SATURDAY 19th JUNE

CYCLE CAVALCADE and BIKE WEEK LAUNCH
11.00am. Outer Close, Winchester Cathedral, Winchester.
NOTE: NEW START LOCATION THIS YEAR

Duration approximately 45 minutes. Suitable for all ages. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

Winchester Bike Week will be launched in the Outer Close outside the Cathedral (behind Market Lane). Join in the fun on a leisurely ride around the historic city. Distance approximately 3.5 miles, with a shorter route as an option for beginners and families with very young children. For added fun, why not decorate your bicycle?
Bells, horns and fancy dress encouraged!
Just turn up.

"FUN ON WHEELS" TREASURE TRAIL - FOE
11.45 am. Outer Close, Winchester Cathedral, Winchester.

Duration approximately 1 hour. Cost: free
Suitable for teams of all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Bring a team of up to 4 people or bring the family.
Use your bikes to cycle around Winchester, answering clues as you go. Prizes for the quickest team with the most correct answers.

Suitable for novice cyclists and accompanied children over 11.
10 - 15 miles at relaxed pace on minor roads.

SUNDAY 20th JUNE

OFF-ROAD INTRODUCTORY RIDE - NEWFORCE
10:00am start. St Catherine’s Park & Ride.

Duration: About 3 hours. Cost: Free
Suitable for anyone over 14 with little or no experience.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
An introductory off-road/mountain bike ride along the byways around Winchester. Bring a helmet, spare inner tube and clothing suitable for the dayís weather. A drink and snack are advisable.

ROAD SAFETY SKILLS FOR CHILDREN (Families welcome)
7.00pm. Meet at front of River Park Leisure Centre, Gordon Road, Winchester. .

Suitable for all children, and families. Cost: £5.
An introduction to riding with children to help parents teach their children to use today's roads. Run by a nationally accredited instructor, the session is both fun and informative.
Booking essential as minimum numbers apply.

CYCLING TALK: the Paris - Hayling Charity Cycle Ride
7.30pm, Western Primary School, Browning Drive, Winchester

A talk by Peter McQuade, President/Founder of the Paris-Hayling Charity Cycle Ride. Established in 1986, this is the UK's original long distance charity cycle ride and has raised over £1.2m to date.

EVENING LEISURE RIDES- CTC
7.00pm start. King Alfred's Statue, The Broadway, Winchester.

Suitable for both novice and experienced cyclists.
Evening ride of either 8 - 10 miles (suitable for those with limited cycling experience) or 15 - 25 miles with optional pub stop (suitable for more experienced cyclists) - lights required.

CYCLE SLALOM CHALLENGE (Sotonia CC/British Cycling GoRide)
12.30 pm to 2.30 pm. River Park Leisure Centre, Gordon Road, Winchester SO23 7DD.

Suitable for all young cyclists in school years 1 - 8.
The challenge features a simple obstacle course that tests childrenís skills. Suitable for any bike. Helmets essential. Engraved medals for the winners of each age category.

WINCHESTER BYGONE RAILWAYS - CTC
2.00 pm. Five Bridges Road, Winchester.

Duration 2 hours.
Suitable for adults and accompanied children over 11.
Discover Winchesterís railway history cycling a mixture of road, easy track and disused railway lines. Includes visit to Chesil Tunnel and Hockley Viaduct. Finishes with optional stop for tea. 12ñ15 miles.
